Health of our dogs is paramount and we are constantly working on the physical and mental well being of our dogs - this is done on a one to one basis as, like humans , no two dogs needs are the same.
Some of them require more feeding than others and some more mental stimulation than others. Some of the require more exercise and others prefer more structured training.
We use a lot of scent based training with all our dogs as the benefits of this is well documented and all our dogs love to use their noses in games and exercises
We take their individual strengths and desires into account when training and use positive training methods to achieve happy healthy hounds in mind and body.
All our dogs are keen trailers and are lucky that we have a qualified trailing instructor here at home.
We also have the stunning diverse landscape of North Wales on our doorstep where we can use the beaches, lakes and mountains to enrich our dogs lives.
As a member of the Barbet Club GB we follow all the guidelines and recommendations set out by the club.
This means abiding by their Code Of Ethics and ensuring that the recommended health tests are carried out and satisfactory before embarking on any breeding programme.
We have all our breeding dogs tested for their hip and elbow scores, they have a yearly eye test and are all DNA tested ( Embark )
We also evaluate the standard of our dogs in comparison to the Kennel Club Breed Standards and only recommend breeding if it contributes to future of the Barbet breed in the UK.
